Fluid Reality is a poured painting, whose dominate color is blue with slashes of red and orange,. It is created with two adjacent canvas that are similar to one another but not the same. This difference is deliberate in order to create a tension between the two canvases. Each canvas is 3'x2' together they are 4'x3' Diptych Canvas. Fluid Reality is a poured painting, whose dominate color is blue, is created with two adjacent canvas that are similar to one another but not the same. There is a connection and a tension between these twin canvas. I use this motif of similarities that are deliberately not the same to create a living quality between the two. My old art teacher, Dord Fitz, called this phenomena scaled tension, just like the two sides of your face are almost the equal but are not the same. This difference makes the face more interesting. A scale that is balance is boring compared to one that slightly moving back and forth, so that is what I strive for in my composition.
